Q. What is IKWC?
A. IKWC provides an environment to learn and share information in a centralized location offering education support services to band operated schools as well as policy, language, culture and technology.

Q. What is the significance of the IKWC office?
A. IKWC is owned and operated by First Nations for First Nations providing 2nd and 3rd level support services.

Q. What is the virtual library?
A. The virtual library offers a wide range of access to a specialized collection of resources.

Q. How will the virtual library assist students?
A. The virtual library offers several valuable resources available to First Nation students on our elders’ teachings, our culture and our language in a 21st Century leaning environment.

Q. How is IKWC funded?
A. IKWC is funded through DIAND (Department of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada) under the New Paths for Education Program.

Q. Is IKWC supported by First Nations leadership?
A. IKWC is supported by the Alberta Assembly of Treaty Chiefs and the Chiefs’ Round table on Education who chose Chiefs from each of the three treaty areas to the IKWC Chief Steering Committee.

Q. Where is IKWC located?
A. The Head Office is located in Enoch, Alberta with the Sub Office located at Suite 200, 17304 -105 Avenue, Edmonton, AB.

Q. How does IKWC work with First Nation schools?
A. IKWC will assist and work with schools to provide support services by bringing together our cultural teachings and oral history from our Elders perspective.

Q. Is there a Board of Directors?
A. Yes, the Chiefs selected individuals from each of the three treaty areas who have demonstrated interest, experience and expertise in education. View our Board of Directors >
