Treaty Resource Kit
The Indigenous Knowledge and Wisdom Centre is excited to announce the pre-sale of our Treaty Resource Kits. The creation of the kits emerged from the original vision of the ‘Indian Control over Indian Education policy’ from 1972 by the National Indian Brotherhood who stated, “Our children will learn our history, our customs and our traditions.”
This learning resource is designed to provide tools and resource for Educators who aim to teach lessons on Treaty history from Indigenous perspectives. Our vision is to provide resources that engage students in meaningful discussions around Treaty and Indigenous history, including handouts on topics such Indigenous Women and Treaty, Peasant Farming Policies, and The Red Paper. Topics that will strengthen their understanding of Treaty.
“Treaty” holds so much for our people who still understand what that word alone means. It is the foundation of the land, now called Canada, and defines our relationship with the Crown. Most importantly, it is a sacred covenant with promises that have yet to be upheld. Teaching Treaty values and concepts means teaching our children their rightful place as Treaty rights holders and connects them to their ancestors, the land, and to the relationships they have with one another.
Version one of the Treaty Resource Kits will be available for a limited time. Our second version will be available for pre-sale September, 2025.
